LOST CREEK, W.VA (WDTV) - One of, if not 'the fastest" high school football players in the state has announced his college destination. South Harrison running back Freddy Canary has signed with West Virginia State. Canary scored 37 touchdowns in his senior season while rushing for 2,215 yards. He is also an 8-time state track champion and could add to those totals this spring. Despite some track opportunities at the next level, Canary was sold on West Virginia State by their running backs coach, former Mountaineer Quincy Wilson.
