WVU hosts Virginia in critical early-season contest

MORGANTOWN, W.VA (WDTV) - (Includes comments from James "Beetle" Bolden and Bob Huggins)

366 days ago, West Virginia posted their best non-conference win of the year, beating the then 6th-ranked Cavaliers 66-57. Only four teams last year scored more points on UVA, so the Mountaineers were able to solve Virginia's "pack line" defense.

This year, Virginia is unbeaten in eight games and they have risen to #15 in the AP poll. They have done so while replacing their top two scorers from a year ago.

Bob Huggins is hopeful this series with Virginia will continue in the future, although the teams will not meet next season. On Saturday, the Mountaineers will renew the Backyard Brawl series at Pittsburgh. Huggins says these are the kind of games that should fill the seats in Coliseum.
