Vintage Firearm Exhibit

Event Dates and Times

1/21/2017 - Starts: 12:00 PM - Ends: 4:00 PM
Doddridge County Public Library
The Doddridge County Heritage Guild is hosting an Open House exhibit of vintage firearms and artifacts of 19th Century Doddridge County gunsmiths Samuel Todd Sherwood, Isaac Stutler and William H. Earnest.

Gun collectors and historians Jeff Sperry and his colleague, Ed Rayl of Gassaway, will be on hand to show you many vintage firearms from their collections, to include several rifles and a pistol made by S.T. Sherwood, a rifle crafted by Isaac Stutler, and an Earnest rifle. This will be a rare opportunity for gun enthusiasts, and history buffs in general, to see firsthand examples of the legendary workmanship of Doddridge County’s early gunsmiths. Jeff Sperry will also have on display letters and invoices related to Samuel Todd Sherwood.

Rennie Brown, whose Doddridge County Roots website has become the go-to source for researching the families of Doddridge and surrounding counties, will be there to provide guidance in researching your own family tree. At 1:00 and 3:00 Rennie will give an interesting and informative presentation based on news items from the West Union newspapers of January 1917. You won’t want to miss his entertaining rendition of “100 Years Ago in Doddridge County.”

Also participating will be Jennifer Wilt, historian and columnist for The Doddridge Independent, and local historian Norma Bowyer.

For more information contact Jennifer Wilt with the Doddridge County Heritage Guild at 304-627-5552 or 304-873-2923

Wes Iseli's magic productions are held in memory of his father, Johnny, whose life was burdened by Parkinson's Disease when Wes was a young boy.

"I had to help him tie his shoes in the morning," he remembers.

It is with his dad in mind that Wes contributes a portion of the proceeds from your tickets to Parkinson's research. During the show, Wes pays tribute with a video montage to his father, who passed away when Iseli was 25, and shares the importance of helping people who are living with Parkinson's by way of a memorable advertisement he once created for the Michael J. Fox Foundation.
