October Old-Time Week, hosted by the Augusta Heritage Center of Davis & Elkins College, will begin with a welcome jam session at 8 p.m. Sunday, Oct. 15 in The Icehouse. A jam session led by Augusta Heritage Center Old-Time Week staff will take place at 8 p.m. Monday, October 16 in the Great Hall of Halliehurst on the campus of Davis & Elkins College. “From the Archives: Films of West Virginia’s Master Musicians,” a presentation by musician Kim Johnson, will take place at 7:30 p.m. Tuesday, October 17 in Halliehurst on the campus of Davis & Elkins College. Wednesday night Pickin’ moves indoors to Halliehurst and The Icehouse on the campus of Davis & Elkins College from 6-10 p.m. on October 18. A concert featuring Augusta Heritage Center’s October Old-Time Week staff and the D&E Appalachian Ensemble will take place at 7:30 p.m. Thursday, October 19 in Myles Center for the Arts Harper-McNeeley Auditorium. Admission to the concert is $12 for the public, $6 for students and free to the D&E community. Tickets may be purchased at www.augustaheritagecenter.org or by calling 304-637-1209.
A Halloween Square Dance and Cakewalk to kick off Augusta Heritage Center’s Fiddlers’ Reunion weekend will take place at 8 p.m. Friday, October 20. The event will be in the Augusta Dance Pavilion, weather permitting, or in Myles Center for the Arts Creative Commons. General admission at the door is $7 for the public, $5 for students and AmeriCorps members, and free to the D&E community. October Old-Time Week staff will provide live music with round robin calling led by Lou Maiuri. A cakewalk fundraiser will benefit the Augusta scholarship program. Augusta Heritage Center’s Fiddlers’ Reunion will take place from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 21 in Myles Center for the Arts. The event will feature free performances by West Virginia musicians. Visitors can also browse exhibits and instrument vendors, participate in jam sessions, shop in the Augusta store and visit The Stirrup Gallery. The day will conclude with a flatfoot dance contest. 20th Annual Full Service Food Drive

All Morgantown Korger Locations
United Way of Monongalia and Preston Counties is hosting its 20th Annual Full Service Food Drive at all Morgantown Kroger locations from 7am-6pm. Those interested in donating can drive up to the locations where volunteers will help retrieve donations from their vehicles.

Donations of healthy food staples are requested. These include: peanut butter, soups, stews, canned meat, beans, vegetables, and fruit. Donations must be non-perishable items. Home canned foods cannot be accepted

Cleaning supplies and personal care items are also requested and appreciated. For example, toilet paper, laundry detergent and other household cleaners, dishwashing liquid, trash bags, soap, tooth paste and tooth brushes, shampoo, deodorant, razors, shaving cream, feminine hygiene products, and diapers.

Monetary Donations of cash and checks are also appreciated. Please make check donations out to Monongalia County Food Pantries.
