FIRST ON 5: Hunter Killed in Tree Stand Accident

The Division of Natural Resources is investigating a fatal hunting accident in Preston County that happened just before 9:00 Monday morning.

The Law Enforcement Division of the DNR has confirmed that a hunter has died as a result of a tree stand accident.

69-year-old John Myers from Western Port, Maryland died when his wooden tree stand gave out.

The DNR says that there have been two fatal tree stand accidents so far this year in the state. Last year, six hunters were injured in tree stand falls but there were no reported fatalities.
