President George W. Bush got several standing ovation for his view on strengthening the No Child Left Behind Act, but there's still concern from school officials in our area.

Harrison County School Superintendent Dr. Carl Friebel says, the act is great in some areas, but there are schools in the county that are still struggling.

President Bush said, We must trust students to learn if given the chance and empower parents to demand results from our schools.

Nutter Fort Intermediate Principal Cathy Fisher thinks building the Act is a good thing, but adding more staff to that would be ideal.

She says, if we add more teachers it will tighten up the teacher to student ratio.

President Bush is also pushing for a $300 million dollar Pell Grant Scholarship Program for low-income kids.

Now all we can do is wait and see what lawmakers will do.
