"Cell Phones for Soldiers"

Scott Snider

Folks in Grafton came out on Saturday to help soldiers stationed overseas.

Intelos, Liberty Tax Service, and the Mountain's Statesman helped out with the nationwide cell phone collection drive.

The "Cell Phones for Soldiers" donation campaign collects old mobile phones and then uses the money made from the recycled phones to purchase $100 calling cards. Those calling cards are then shipped to soldiers overseas.

More than 100 phones were collected today, which will provide more than 10,000 calling minutes for the soldiers.

Organizers say they are very thankful to those who donated their old phones. They also say Saturday's turnout proves that the Grafton community cares alot about the men and woman serving our country.
