The annual Strawberry Festival has always meant folks from around the world coming to Upshur County. And with more people coming to Buckhannon, more money maybe pumped into the local economy.

Chairperson Jody Light said the festival is the biggest event every year for the county. Spectators from around the country, to even some foreign places like Italy, stop for the events.

And that news has local business owners, like Dottie Paresleny happy about that. Her business, the Buckhannon Antique Mall, has only been opened since August. But she hopes the store will do well this weekend, making a huge profit from out-of-area customers. She said she'll have to wait and see what will happen; but she's very optimistic about this weekend's conclusion with the festival wrapping up on Sunday.
