The Tygart Valley Regional Jail is quieting down after a hostage situation Friday evening between an officer and an inmate.

The ordeal broke out around 3:30 p.m. in the jail. Several emergency crews, including the State Police responded to the scene. The situation ended before 11:00 p.m that night with no reported injuries.

The jail was on lockdown during the situation, and did start accepting inmates again after everything was resolved. The State Police is investigating the incident and the names of the people involved have not been released yet.

Officials said criminal charges are pending.
