Gov. Manchin Comes to Bridgeport to Talk Swine Flu

Governor Joe Manchin stops by Bridgeport on a state-wide tour to educate folks about the seriousness of the swine flu.

Governor Manchin talked to students, faculty, and staff on Tuesday at both Bridgeport High School and Johnson Elementary School, and with him, he brought a letter that will be sent home with every student in the state.

It's meant to inform parents about the swine flu, and the effectiveness of the vaccine that's gradually becoming more available.

Governor Manchin encouraged the students to take the virus very seriously and not waste any time when it comes to seeking medical attention.

Harrison County Board of Health members and board of education members were also on hand, and assure students and parents that every person who wants a vaccine will soon be able to get one.

A new website dedicated solely to the swine flu in the state is also up and running. To learn more, log on to www.wvflu.org.

A swine flu clinic recently cancelled at Robert C. Byrd High School has also been rescheduled.

It will be on Thursday November 5 from 4 p.m. until 8 p.m.

It's open to any kids between the ages of  2-6 and kids ages 7-18 who are pregnant or have chronic medical conditions. More than 1,500 doses will be available.
