Accidents, Traffic Problems on Lodgeville Road

It's been 5 years since Lodgeville Road opened in Bridgeport, in November of 2004. Since then, wrecks have become common place.
Officials say there are two reasons. First off, the road is heavily traveled. And, secondly, there are some intersections without any traffic signal.
The large amount of cars on the road mean a large amount of accidents.
According to Bridgeport Police Chief John Walker, Lodgeville Road has an average of 70 accidents each year.
Officials do say that the number of accidents have gone down since first opening, but there is still a need for improvement.
One of the worst sections of the road is the intersection with Johnson Avenue. The Department of Highways says there is a project in the works to put a stop-light at that intersection. But, it'll probably be between 18 months and 2 years before that light is in place.
