FIRST ON FIVE: Body Found In Monongahela Forest

Officials in Randolph County discover a charred body inside a flaming vehicle Thursday around 1:00pm.  It happened at the Rattlesnake Lower Cheat Section of the Monongahela National Forest.

Officials say a hunter in the area saw flames shooting out of a black Chevy truck and called 911.  The Leading Creek Fire Department and Randolph County Sheriff's Department arrived on scene first, discovering not only a truck fire, but a body inside.

Deputies say it wasn't a car accident.  They will be investigating if it's a homicide.

The location of the incident is the same place a man was murdered around two and a half years ago, but officials don't suspect any connection.  "This is a party location," explains Deputy John Burns of the Randolph County Sheriff's Department.  "We do run patrols in this area, especially with a grant that we have.  So patrols are down here, but I don't think this is a danger area for Randolph County."

The Randolph County Sheriff's Department is investigating.  If you have any information about Thursday's incident, contact the department at 304-636-2100.
