A Morgantown man charged in a rash of smash and grab break-ins enters an alford plea.
The plea means 46 year-old John Simpkins Senior doesn't admit guilt, but acknowledges the evidence against him would probably lead to a conviction.
The plea applies to four counts of breaking and entering, each punishable by 1-10 years in prison.
Simpkins, his son John, his daughter Amanda, and two other men were arrested in connection with the crime spree, which included as many as 24 business break-ins in the Mon County area.
SImpkins will be sentenced after he finishes a 60 day evaluation.
