Arthurdale Receives Grant To Renovate Old Buildings

A historical society received a grant to renovate three abandoned school buildings.

Arthurdale Heritage received a $5,000 grant through the 2010 Focus West Virginia Brownfields Program to revitilize the Arhturdale school buildings.

They will take this money to conduct a survey to see what the community wants to do with the buildings.

"There's a desperate need for low-cost daycare.  That would be perfect and wonderful if we could get the funding.  A senior center, elder classes, etc. there has been a lot of discussion, but the grant will enable us to on a more professional basis get a survey of everyone who lives here and the surrounding area and find out what they want the schools to be used for," said Arthurdale Heritage Treasurer Darlene Bolyard.

They will get the money in April and begin taking the survey then.
