Google Coming to Morgantown?

The city of Morgantown wants to be one of Google's test cities across the United States with faster internet access for everyone.

Google plans on launching an experiment to test high speed broadband networks that will deliver internet speeds more than 100 times faster than what most Americans have access to today, 1 Gigbit per second.

City officials have launched a new website wewantagig.com.

You can click on the "Nominate Morgantown Now" button and vote for the city.

They also want you to create a video answering the question, what would you do with faster internet?

Morgantown has quality health care, a research University and city officials say if you add a partner like google, Morgantown's potential is limitless.

"It's exciting.  You may not understand, but it's something we're trying to get into Morgantown to give an opportunity for people to understand it and take advantage of the new technology," said Jeff Mikorski, Assistant City Manager.

Simply log onto wewantagig.com and nominate Morgantown.

The city has until March 26 to send in the city's application and they need community support.

If you would like to join the conversation, they're on YouTube, Twitter, LinkedIn and Facebook
