WVU Business Students Taking Unique, Hands On Class

WVU business students will get to experience what it's like to run their own restaurant when a new Mediterranean eatery opens it's doors in the Mountainlair.

Taziki's Mediterranean Cafe will open up August 19th, and as part of a class, forty students will learn the ins and outs of the restaurant business.

The project came as an idea from two alums running their own restaurant ventures.

Officials at the college say this project isn't only important for the students, but it will benefit the state in the long run.

"Tourism is the second largest industry in West Virginia, and we are a land grant university.  So, I think it's important that we provide the talent and skills that are needed in West Virginia," says Associate Dean Nancy McIntyre.

All profits from the restaurant will go to the College of Business and Economics to help fund scholarships and other programs.
