Scott Snider is WDTV's News Director and Main Anchor. Scott was born in Fairmont and raised in Hundred, West Virginia.
A graduate of West Virginia University, Scott marked 10 years on the air at WDTV in November of 2008. In addition to being the News Director, Scott also anchors the 5:00, 5:30 and 6:00 newscasts Monday through Friday.
He joined the 5 News team in November of 1998, reporting on weekends while attending WVU. In June of 1999, Scott became the Marion County bureau reporter. In October of that year, he began anchoring the news, and also covered the West Virginia Legislature live from Charleston in 1999, 2000 and 2001. In July of 2004, Scott was promoted to become WDTV's News Director.
During his tenure at WDTV, Scott has witnessed and covered a lot of defining moments in our area, such as our continuous live coverage on 9/11 and the Sago Mine tragedy. He's also brought viewers exclusive reports, like his interview with Heather Bresch during the WVU degree scandal and his one on one interview with U.S. Senator and former First Lady Hillary Clinton during the 2008 presidential campaign. Scott is honored to be reporting local news that matters to you, leading the way in securing first place Associated Press Awards for "Outstanding News Operation" (2006, 2001, 1999) "Best Newscast" (1999) and West Virginia Broadcasters Association Awards for "Best Newscast" (2004, 2005). Scott also enjoys hosting the coverage of local festivals and events like the West Virginia Italian Heritage Festival and the West Virginia Strawberry Festival. He enjoys being able to work and live in his home area, and is blessed to be able be close to his family while still working in the news business.
In his spare time, Scott enjoys running and lifting weights, playing guitar, reading, and of course, watching the Mountaineers. He would also like to thank you for letting him into your homes all these years.
