UPDATE: Firefighters Battle Blaze at Bellview Home

Amanda Pavlik

Marion County firefighters battled a blaze early Tuesday morning at a home on Bellview Avenue.

The fire broke out around 5:30 a.m. When fire crews arrived on scene they saw smoke pouring out of the house. When they went inside they found the fire was active on all three floors of the home. It took firefighters about a half hour to get it under control.

The family who owns the home was not there when the fire started.

Fairmont Fire Chief Roger Wilson says the fire was accidental and started from a furnace floor grate in the basement. It then spread through the wall into the attic.

Firefighters prevented the home from sustaining major structural damage. Wislon estimates the damages will cost an estimated $50,000.
