Her story made national headlines for her capture and rescue in the Iraq War, now Private First Class Jessica Lynch is moving her life forward.

Five years ago she was captured when her convoy fell into an ambush.

While many of the soldiers lost their lives, Lynch survived when U.S. Troops took her from an Iraqi hospital.

Five years later, she's keeping busy by being a full time mom and student.

Lynch says, she's just happy to be alive and back home.

Today the VA Medical Center presented her with the Quilt of Valor to show appreciation for her service in the war.
