Kids at a local elementary school are getting a chance to experience the past, hands-on.

For the last month, 2nd graders at Belington Elementary School have been doing an extensive study of lifestyles of the late 1700's and early 1800's which included a lesson taught by the local circuit judge and a basket-weaving activity. Today the students dressed up in outfits similar to those worn by folks in the early 1800's and enjoyed delicious snacks bearing the likeness of food from the early 19th Century.

Tomorrow, the students are going on a field trip to Blennerhassett Island Historic Park near Parkersburg.
