The woman charged in connection with the murder of 14 year old Mariah Keigley is back in court today.

Amber Starr plead guilty to "child neglect causing bodily injury" and the state dropped the charge of "gross child neglect resulting in death."

Doddridge County Prosecuting attorney Lucien Sammons Jr. says the state feels they couldn't prove "gross child neglect," and he didn't want to take a chance of her being found innocent in trial.

Sammons' says, investigators and the state believes she wasn't involved in Mariah Keigley's murder.

In 2005 David Keigley allegedly murdered his daughter Mariah to cover up an incestuous relationship. And at the time she was over 7 months pregnant.

Last Friday family and friends of the victim sent letter to the judge opposing the plea hearing.

Mariah's Aunt Veronica Nicholas says "It's like a slap on the wrist and Mariah deserves more than this."

Starr's sentencing hearing is set for May 17th and she could face 1 year behind bars and a $1,000 fine.
