Scott Snider

Scott Snider is WDTV's News Director and Main Anchor. Scott was born in Fairmont and raised in Hundred, West Virginia.

A graduate of West Virginia University, Scott has been a fixture at WDTV NewsChannel Five since 1998. He anchors the 5:00, 5:30 and 6:00 newscasts Monday through Friday.

He joined the NewsChannel Five team in November of 1998, reporting part time on weekends while attending college. In June of 1999, Scott became the Marion County bureau reporter. In October of that year, he was promoted to anchor, and also covered the West Virginia Legislature live from Charleston in 1999, 2000 and 2001. In July of 2004, Scott became WDTV's News Director.

During his tenure at WDTV, Scott has witnessed a lot of defining moments in our area, such as our continuous live coverage on 9/11, the Sago Mine tragedy, the 1999 Downtown Weston Fire, and the Governor Wise scandal. Scott is honored to be reporting news that matters to you, in your hometown, leading the way in securing first place Associated Press Awards for "Outstanding News Operation" (2006, 2001, 1999) "Best Newscast" (1999) and West Virginia Broadcasters Association Awards for "Best Newscast" (2004, 2005). Scott also enjoys bringing to you local festivals and events like the West Virginia Italian Heritage Festival and Strawberry Festival.

In his spare time, Scott enjoys working out, playing guitar, reading, watching movies, and of course, cheering on the Mountaineers. He would also like to thank you, the viewer, for letting him into your homes all these years.
