Steve Butera joined Your Hometown Newsteam in spring 2004.

Steve is currently a senior at West Virginia University’s P.I. Reed School of Journalism. He’ll be graduating this spring with a degree in broadcast news and English. On campus, Steve is the news director for WVU’s radio station, U92 FM, and an anchor for WVU News, a newscast shown statewide on West Virginia PBS.

The Middletown, NJ native began his professional career shortly after his family moved to the Mountain State. After graduating from Bridgeport High School in 2004, Steve began reporting at NewsChannel 5. At one point, Steve was the state’s youngest television reporter.

When not juggling a story or classes, you can catch Steve at the gym, practicing his hockey game, or skiing on the area's slopes. His favorite though, cheering on his ‘Eers at Mountaineer Field! But he admits with the weekend shift, it can be rather tough!
