Over 70% of folks in West Virginia have guns in their homes leaving a dangerous playground for kids.

The Eddie Eagle GunSafe Program reaches out to millions of kids across the nation to stop deadly accident from happening, and DNR Officers did just that at Big Elm Elementary School.

Those third graders learned the four cardinal rules "Stop, Don't Touch, Leave the area, and Tell an adult."

The main message is obvious if you're a neighbor's home or at a playground and you find a gun it's considered loaded and dangerous.

Since this program launched in the 1980s, fatal accidents with kids under 10 years old have dropped dramatically by 80%.

To get the program at your school call DNR's District office in Farmington at 825-6787.
