The state will soon have a more efficient and effective way to pay local businesses.

The Harrison County Commission today gave its support to the use of the "Purchasing Card" program. The "P-Card" will be used like a debit card by state government agencies to pay local businesses in three days instead of the usual 60 to 90 days.

The "P-Car" will also save at least $50 per transaction over the usual paper-based system.
