It seems that all good things come to those who wait. That was the case for former Mountaineer and Bridgeport Indian Tim Lindsey. After a stay in Morgantown, is now joining the Seattle Seahawks as their newest long snapper.
"It'll be an good experiment this summer," said Lindsey. "Getting into shape on the other side of the country... so it'll be interesting.
And waiting again was something that he had to endure. Growing up, Lindsey was ineligible to play Pop Warner football until he was older.
"They had a weight limit and I was always one of the bigger kids- they couldn't play," said Lindsey. "I wait until I was in 7th grade to strap on my first helmet."
But now, fast forward a decade later... and now, he's on his way to the NFL again. He played previously for the Atlanta Falcons, but was released from his contract in 2007. He says going through a number of changes, including head coaches, going from Bobby Petrino last year in Atlanta, Mike Holmgren this year, and Jim Mora next year in Seattle, is something he's ready for.
"Consistency is on my part. The coaching scheme may change- but that's easier for me than some other positions."
Oh, and speaking of waiting... Lindsey is also waiting for June 2008, that's when he's getting married back in the same place he grew up.
"Flying in for a couple of days to get married and then heading back to Seattle. But my family has accepted that and my fiancée has accepted that," he said. "We're kind of working that- it'll be different for the first time."
Lindsey is reporting to Seahawks' training camp this weekend. His first preseason game will be on August 12 against San Diego Chargers.
