The environment has been a hot topic in recent months as many people are trying to go green. But one county's major problems are now being discovered by local residents.

The WVU Student Sierra Coalition organized Sunday's Morgantown Toxic Tour. Sightseers can see some of the county's most environmentally hazardous areas, including the power plant along Beechurst Avenue.

The Coalition says Morgantown has the highest concentration of power plants in the nation. Meanwhile the county is also becoming a leader in environmental awareness... mostly because of West Virginia University.

Co-organizer Christy Hartman said students can "go home and tell their parents about it. Focus on the solutions too because it's not all gloom and doom. There are a million opportunities to a problem, which is why we're out here."

The tour also visited more eco-friendly places including a solar-powered house and a truck that uses only vegetable oil.
