Fire Ruins Rivesville Restaurant

WDTV News
Amanda Pavlik

A fire ruins Dewey's Diner and Lounge on Main Street in Rivesville Monday morning.

Only the business owner was inside when the fire started just after 10:30am.

He says he heard a popping sound in the storage room and when he went in the room, he saw the flames. By the time fire crews got on scene, the room became engulfed.

Crews had some trouble getting the fire completely out because the flames became trapped between the old roof and the newer roof.

The State Fire Marshal's Office was on scene and says the blaze started between the ceiling and the roof. He'll be back on scene to determine exactly where and how the fire started once the roof is completed removed.

The building suffered severe fire and water damage. The restaurant's only been open since October.
