The board of directors of World Vision United States made a stop Monday afternoon to World Vision Appalachia in Philippi.

World Vision's focus is on Christian relief, development and advocacy. The organization works with children, families and communities to overcome poverty and injustice around the world.

Monday the 35 member board which oversees all programs made a stop to the Appalachia Program. During their visit, the board had the opportunity to speak with community leaders living in under-resourced communities.

They also observed first hand the positive impact World Vision programs are making in these types of areas.

Programs operated by the Philippi Organization include Education and Youth Development, Emergency response and Disaster relief and Training and Capacity building.
