The West Virginia Primaries are now less than a week away and the state is becoming a hot seat for the Presidential race.

Thursday former President Bill Clinton made a stop in Philippi West Virginia to campaign on behalf of his wife Hillary. Folks started lining up early in the morning to get a glimpse of the former President. And hundreds of folks squeezed into the gymnasium to hear what President Clinton had to say.

But what is more important is this is the first time since the 1950's that a former President has visited a small community like Philippi. City officials say its an honor for President Clinton to make a stop here in Philippi. They say they're excited and surprised that the campaign chose this area out of other options.

City Manager Karen Weaver says many candidates have been making the rounds to different areas around the state, but aren't sure if any others will be making a stop back in Philippi in the upcoming months.
