Getting out of debt can take a lot of time and commitment, and that's one of the reasons folks out to a "Women & Money" conference in Morgantown today.

The event is sponsored by state treasurer John Perdue, and more than 350 women packed into the Waterfront Place Hotel to learn more about how to take control of their finances.

Some of the workshops included sessions on retirement and credit management. These events are geared toward helping women better handle their personal finances, like planning for retirement, getting out of debt, saving for college, budgeting and more.

More than 7,500 folks from across the state have attended one of the 20 conferences in the last six years.
