Mother's Day is a day that's near and dear to many homes but right here, the holiday has a special meaning as it was created right here in our area.

This year's celebration was even more significant because it's the 100th anniversary of the holiday.

This Sunday marked the centennial celebrations of Mother's Day. In our area, folks packed the place where idea started, the Saint Andrew's Methodist Episcopal Church in downtown Grafton. During the service, Governor Joe Manchin was this year's speaker.

The holiday was created by Anna Jarvis, who thought of the idea of Mother's Day after the death of her mom.

According to Salary.com, with all the duties that moms do for us, washing clothes, cooking food, and so on, they should make $116,000 a year!

Grafton and the International Mother's Day Shrine wrapped up Sunday's celebrations with a concert by Mountain State.
