Attempted Murder Arrest

Carrie Jones

One man's attempt to get revenge on his ex-wife endangers the lives of his daughter and grandchildren.

The Braxton County Sheriff's Department says four people escaped serious injury after Tony Burdette set his family's tent on fire at Gerald Freeman Campground early Monday morning.

Deputies say Burdette was stalking his ex-wife and they believe he was trying to harm her. But, he set the wrong tent on fire with his former mother in law, daughter and two grandchildren inside.

The elderly woman suffered second degree burns while trying to get everyone else out of the tent. She has been released from the hospital.

Burdette is charged with Arson and four counts of Attempted Homicide.
