-WV is the first state to implement sales tax
-WV is the first state to use outdoor advertising
-The longest steel arch bridge is in Fayetteville, WV
-The first public spa opened in Berkeley Springs, WV
-The first brick street was laid in Charleston in 1870
-WV's border is 1,365 miles
-The first steamboat was launched in Shepherdstown
-The WV Memorial Tunnel was the first tunnel in the nation to have television monitoring
-WV has the highest average altitude east of the Mississippi River
-One of the first suspension bridges in the world was created in Wheeling
-Virginia Street in Charleston is the longest single block in the nation
-The first electric railroad was created between Huntington and Guyandotte
