Monongalia County Flooding

Heavy rain came down in a short period of time this afternoon causing washed out culverts, flooded roads and water up to homes and businesses.

Officials at the Brookhaven Fire Department say the Summer School Road area was hit the hardest by the storms closing a number of roads and putting bridges underwater. But some temporary relief was available to folks affected by the flood waters. The American Red Cross is offering help to those affected by the flood waters.

Fire officials say it could be anywhere from three to four days to get roads cleared by debris and water.

If your home or property experienced any damage because of the high waters, Emergency Management Officials encourage you to report the damages to their office at 598-0301.
