West Virginia University's Board of Governors met in Morgantown Tuesday to select a new interim president.

Veteran educator  C. Peter Magrath has been chosen to take over for current president Mike Garrison. He will play a key role in helping the university rebuild its damaged national reputation and choose a permanent successor. Magrath is the former president of three universities and the National Association of State Universities and Land-Grant Colleges.

Garrison will be stepping down in September to end the controversy surrounding a master's degree awarded to the Governor's daughter, Heath Bresch.

The Board also welcomed in there newest members Dr. Charles Vest, Ray Lane and Oliver Luck.
