Goldsmith Found Not Guilty in Sexual Assault Trial

The verdict is already in after the trial of a Randolph County man accused of sexual assault started this morning. Homer Goldsmith was found not guilty of second degree sexual assault but was found guilty to the lesser charges of battery and malicious assault. In May of 2007, he was accused of entering without breaking into a woman's home and engaging in sexual intercourse and sexual intrusion without her consent and destruction of property. Goldsmith was sentenced to one year of time already served.
