The secret shopper mail scam continues to roll into our mailboxes, and this time one local woman is the target.

Over the weekend Janet Shepherd got a letter and $4,820 check from Retail Review Inc., but after taking a closer look she knew it was bogus.

Shepherd's husband Chuck met with prosecutors this morning, and they say they're working closely with the FBI to try and stop this from happening.

Bridgeport Police Detective Dustin Hotsinpiller says, many of these scams come across his desk, but they're hard to investigate.

Most scammers are from over seas, and when you call their phone number no one answers.

Now Janet didn't fall victim but many have and their bank accounts have been drained.

So the saying goes, "If something seems to good to be true, it probably is."
