Vendors in Marion County said that people are paying more attention to where they buy their produce. People want to know if any chemicals are being sprayed and where the fruits and vegetables are being shipped from.

If they are grown, sold and bought locally vendors said there is less chance of contamination.

How to maintain produce in good condition to reduce the potential for microbial contamination.

Remove as much dirt as practicable outside of the packing facility.
Clean and wash produce.
Store in sealed containers
Keep in cool areas
