Hunters...Get Prepared!

The official start of the hunting season is about to get underway, but do you think you're prepared when you head out to the forest?

The Department of Natural Resources offers classes for folks to take in different counties throughout the state. Now these classes are actually required for anyone who hunts in the state of West Virginia.

The classes cover everything from hunter responsibility, to ethics.  It even gives a hands on presentation on guns and how to use them and handle them responsibly.

The class also teaches folks what to do in certain situations like when to shoot and when not to shoot.  Accidents can happen and that's why DNR officials say its important to keep safety in mind.

Classes are already filling up fast. Barbour county will offer a class on Wednesday October 8th from 3-7 in the basement of the Phillippi City Building.  Another class will be offered on October 23 in Shinnston.  You can call 825-6787 for more information.
