A Monterville man is behind bars facing a number of drug charges after he's arrested by the Elkins Detachment of the State Police.

41-year old Hayes Arbogast is behind bars and charged with cultivation of marijuana, possession with the intent to deliver, illegal possession of fireworks and illegal possession of ginseng.

Troopers received a tip and after obtaining a search warrant found a number of pills, about a half a pound of marijuana, illegal fireworks, drug paraphernalia and about two pounds of ginseng roots and seeds.

Digging up ginseng roots is legal, as long as you have a permit.  However, keeping the seeds is illegal and can lead to fines and jail time for multiple offenses.

Illegal possession of ginseng may be a misdemeanor, but Arbogast also had multiple marijuana plants adding felony charges.

Trooper J.E. Kopec is the investigating officer.

Arbogast is currently in the Tygart Valley Regional Jail.

Troopers appreciate folks sending in anonymous tips to their "tip line" because its helped with this arrest.
