Cashing in on Old Junk

WDTV News

The economy is down and the price of gold is up. The impact is an increasing number of people trying to trade in their old jewelry, gold and metals for large amounts of money.

Dealers from Gold Rush in Uniontown, PA have been making monthly trips to the Sutton Inn in Clarksburg to buy off of local residents.

Wade Greene, an employee says he thinks a combination of the weakened economy and the rising cost of gold has led to an increase of people getting rid of their old items.

He says many customers buy things like old scrap metal at yard sales for less than a dollar and cash them in for more than a hundred dollars.

Other items typically bought are watches, silverware, earings and coins.
