The economy is heading towards recession, but our area seems to be flourishing despite the national trend.

Last week 5 News showed you what's booming in Bridgeport now we took a trip into Morgantown to find out just what's going on there.

Mayor Ron Justice says they're spending billions on construction from the Research Center, down to new apartments in Sunnyside.

Downtown's district is filled with stores and local owned restaurants but all around the area is what's drawing attention to the small city.

West Virginia University's campus has expanded.

Their student population is growing so right now they're in the process of building apartments.

And just a stone's throw away the Blanchette Rockefeller Neuroscience Institute is bringing in more jobs and the capabilities of research way ahead of most companies in the country.

Morgantown Area Chamber of Commerce President Ken Busz thinks it's the positive leaders that are making this all happen.
