Louis Roy just started his own animal processing farm in Philippi. Just a few days before Thanksgiving, a coyote killed 25 of his turkeys, forcing him to cancel about 20 orders.

Roy says accidents like this are discouraging, but are always a part of the business.

Jerry Stout, owner of Jerry's Sporting Goods in Horner and Flatwoods says his stores several varieties of traps for catching coyotes, as well as urine to attract them to a particular area.

Stout says coyotes are a hard animal to get rid of because when several are killed, other coyotes prey on the carcasses, making those coyotes more likely to reproduce.
