During the holiday season Police notice more drunk drivers on the road. But thanks to grants from the state they're cracking down on these dangerous drivers.

The Buckhannon Police Department has been working aggressively on patrolling the streets, getting drunk drivers off the roads, and behind bars.

It's all thanks to grants from the Governor's Highway Safety Program, and the Governor's Commission on Drunk Driving Prevention. The grants allow officers to go above and beyond the normal call of duty and focus on overtime patrol, specifically on DUI enforcement.

On Friday alone, Police arrested two drunk drivers. Police have made one DUI arrest for every seven hours of overtime throughout the last couple months.

Police say it's important to make these arrests because it can keep these dangerous drivers from either hurting themselves or hurting someone else.
