Every time we sit down at our desk at home or at work we are surrounded by items that can be changed to help save our planet.  Here are a few:

  • Turn off your computer when it's not in use and not just the monitor.
  • .Turn your thermostat down my 3 degrees to save 3 percent on energy bills or turn it down by 4 degrees to save 10 percent.
  • Drink out of reusable cups and bottles instead of using Styrofoam and paper cups we use just once then throw away.
  • Use every piece of paper you have.  Print on both sides of paper and use scrap paper instead of buying sticky note pads.
  • Take your ink cartridges to be re-filled instead of buying new ones each time.
  • Open blinds on windows to bring in natural heat and light so you can shut off lights and keep the thermostat low.
  • Every appliance in your office uses energy, even when it's not in use, so turn it off or put in in sleep mode when not in use.
