The 72nd Strawberry Festival has arrived for the citizens of Buckhannon, and for the second straight year that festival has included the Horse and Carriage Parade.
The procession began at 5:00 p.m. going down the 2.5 mile stretch of Strawberry Lane into downtown Buckhannon. There were more than 50 horse units from five different states in the procession. Festival organizers said they're very excited about the future of this parade and it's place in the festival.
"I think it's a plus for us. We're involving a different group of people with the farmers and all the horsemen. In the past we've only allowed them to participate at the tail end of the Grand Feature Parade and now they're able to be showcased in their own parade," First VP Debra Hupp told 5 News.
Throughout the day there were also live musicians and food vendors downtown.
