5 NEWS UPDATE: Doddridge County Gas Well Explosion Injures 8

UPDATE 7/7/2013 (2 pm):

Doddridge County EMS has confirmed a gas well explosion in New Milton sent 8 people to the hospital.

It happened just before 4 a.m. Sunday morning at an Antero gas well site just off of Brushy Fork Road in New Milton

Officials said the explosion injured 8 people. 4 people were flown to West Penn Burn Center in Pittsburgh. 4 others were transported to local hospitals.

Officials said the fire was contained within a few hours of the start of the blaze.

ORIGINAL STORY:

5 News has received several reports that a gas well has apparently exploded in Doddridge County, sending at least 7 to the hospital.

It happened just before 4:00 a.m. Sunday morning at a gas well just off of Route 18 about 8 miles south of West Union.

Witnesses told 5 News the explosion apparently injured 7 people, and some of them supposedly had to be flown out to the West Penn Burn Center in Pittsburgh for treatment.
