5 NEWS UPDATE: Gunman Killed by Wheeling Police After Firing on Federal Building

5 NEWS UPDATE (4:27 PM) 
A gunman who fired multiple shots into the federal courthouse Wednesday afternoon was shot and killed by police.
MetroNews is reporting that witnesses said the gunman used a rifle, reloading at least once, as he fired at the federal building at approximately 2:45 p.m.
No one inside the building was hurt. Authorities said the unidentified gunman died at a local hospital.
There is no word on a motive at this time.
Media outlets are reporting that one person is in custody after shots were fired near the Federal Building in Wheeling.  
Witnesses reported that about 20 shots were fired and that it appears the gunman was using an assault-type rifle. They said that the gunman was apparently shooting at the building itself.
The building was put on lockdown and surrounding streets were closed around 3:15 Wednesday afternoon.  State and local police responded to the area.
