5 NEWS UPDATE (5:15 PM):
UHC officials tell us a piece of machinery that uses ultra-violet lights to clean patient rooms caught fire after being turned on Monday afternoon. A nurse quickly put out the fire, but not before it caused a lot of smoke in the 4 North section of the hospital.
To get the smoke out of the building, fans were brought in to push it into the stairwells and out through the roof.
Housekeepers are cleaning the walls and ceilings right now, and officials say the rooms in the affected area will reopen in a few hours.
Patients in the affected areas were moved to another section of the hospital.
